Earn What You Spend

Weekend Reading: 12/7

An interesting proposal for President-elect Obama to go ahead with his promised repeal of Bush’s tax cuts.  I’m not sure where I net out on this one, if only because of the psychological damage raising taxes could do in a time like this.

Is it finally time to buy a house?  Living in New York City, I, like the rest of this metropolis, am quite obsessed with real estate. But we seem to be far from the bottom of the real estate market, and the effects of the layoffs in the financial sector are only beginning to be felt.  (It’s a few days old, but Clusterstock’s take on this is worth reading)

Obama’s stimulus plan is crystallizing: it’s a massive investment in infrastructure, focusing on energy, education, and healthcare, among other things.

I always enjoy Mark Cuban’s take, this time on the auto bailout.

[Updated] Also be sure to read this article in the NYTimes by Eric Dash.  It explores consumer credit in detail, and is an excellent read.
